The Drone Repair Co. Story

Humble Beginnings.

The Drone Repair Company started when a friend of mine needed a high level circuit board repair on his damaged drone. I had 5 years experience in the circuit board repair industry with Circuit Board Medics, so I was happy to help. Soon after, I found myself coaching a class of young drone fliers to use a soldering iron to repair their drones. I love fixing stuff (Check out Macmojo.net to see my Mac Repair Business).

Then I bought my first drone- a Eachine QX65 Tiny Whoop. It was a blast to fly, especially with a First Person View (FPV) Headset. My kids loved racing around the house and yard chasing the drone at full speed. Before long, it too needed a control board repair. I ordered parts, pulled out my soldering iron, and fixed it! Boom. I was hooked.

Stepping up.

Before long, I was looking for something bigger to fly. I found and bought a crashed DJI Phantom 3 S. Then bought a second broken P3S. Between the two crashed birds, and a little bit of circuit board skills, I put together a beautiful and fully operational Phantom 3. It was a blast to fly, I was able to get some pretty cool shots of Phoenixville.

The Faceplant.

Then one day, I happened upon a Mavic Pro at a great price. I was smitten by drone’s profile as well as by the promise of higher quality of photos and videos. I took it to the park with my kids, … and promptly crashed it on my first flight. Boom Baby! (Note to self…. make sure the blades are fully locked into the motors… otherwise your drone flies up about 10 ft, does a little flip, and face-plants into the frozen ground with explosive effect). Fortunately some middle school boys were nearby to watch- and after getting a good laugh at my expense- helped me collect pieces of my Mavic Pro. :(

I was devastated. I spent the next half hour raging at the heavens. After my hot messy tears dried, I spent a couple hours disassembling the whole bird, ordered parts, and got back to work. Within a few days, my Mavic regained all 4 arms, and we were airborne! The photos and videos were amazing, and she was a dream to fly.

Since that day, we (yes- there’s a whole team of us now) have repaired many different drones and spent countless hours learning to shoot great videos and amazing photos. We love fixing and flying drones. And— We are good at it. Please let us know how our story can connect to yours!
